Help for a new Computer system

Postby Magicco » Wed 12. Sep 2012, 08:08

Hey guys like the topic said, im gonna buy a new system for me.

Im not a well known specialist about what typ of components work better with other components bla, this is why im asking for some help here.

Here are my general conditions:

Money i want to spend 900-1200 Euros
SSD for OS (W7) and my games (gw2, some steam games)
Living in germany (may cannot purchase items from america without having problem about taxes bla)
I prefer intel processors
I can assemble the the whole system on my own :p
maybe a system that isn't so loud like my little turbine below my desk^^

OT: im not sure, but it seems that gw2 is dealing mainly with the CPU and not GPU, and if i look closely only 1 of 4 processors is doing the big work.. narf

Thanks ;)

i5 3570K
ASUS P8Z77 V board
120GB SSD
1TB HDD
8GB Ram
CPU Cooler (e.g. Noctua makes good coolers, like the NH-12UP)
(yes you can use the noisy stock cooler, but the i5 very easily overclocks to > 4 GHz on a good air cooler)

GPU is up to you - GeForce 560ti is pretyt solid and reasonably priced at the moment. Can also push it a bit and go for a 670ti if you want a little extra sexyness

PSU depends on your GPU, basically. A mid-range GPU will be fine with a ~550W PSU (if decent quality). If you go for the 670, you might have to go a little higher (650W, my guess).

Case - up to you, but I would aim for something > 80 Euros. I personally like the Fractal Design R4 - very subtle design, noise-dampened and high build-quality.

hmpf are there any websites where i can combine all my match results?

i5 3570k = 206€

ASUS P8Z77 V board
(wtf found versions LE, LX, LK, Premium, Deluxe, Pro and Z77 what is the correct one) = 100€ - 370 €

Geforce GTX 670 Ti (found only one without the "Ti") = 340 €

120gb SSD Samsung 830 120gb = 91€

1 TB HDD Western Digital Caviar Blue = 70€

8GB RAM (NO idea what RAM what type and how much 2x4gb or 4x2gb)
G.Skill DIMM 2GB PC3-10667U CL9-9-9-24 (DDR3-1333) (F3-10600CL9S-2GBNT) 4x2gb = 50€

CPU Cooler Noctua NH-12UP (found one that is named U12P^^) = 48€

Fractal design Pearl R4 = 94€

Powersupply = how much W and there are also prices from 60-150€ possible

please correct or help me Lasastard if i made sth wrong, especially the Mainboard typo question

Sum = 693€ without mainboard, powersupply
= 853€ - 1213€ regarding to those different mainport suffixes and powersupplies.

There should be a MoBo version 'V' - if not, aim for 150 Euro or thereabouts. The LE version lacks a feature or two which I found useful - only had two Sata 3 ports, for starters). Lower-end version of chipset/brands also tend to be less stable when OC'n etc.

Get 2 bricks of DDR3 4 GB dual channel Ram @ 1600 MHz, Corsair, Kingston, whatever.

PSU, as mentioned, 600ish Watt should be more than ok with that setup - again, Corsair, Fractal, beQuiet, Enermax, ... and should cost 60-80 Euros, I would guess. (http://extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngine)

Rest looks ok to me.

oh and if the budget allows for it, get a graphics card with a double-cooler - everything we put together for you here makes for a fairly low-noise system; don't want to mess that up by putting in a jet turbine.

http://geizhals.de/?cat=WL-62200

+ 120gb SSD
+ 1 TB WD caviar Green

and you're fine to go for your budget ;)

or if you want to spend a little bit less money:

Geizhals also gives you the opportunity to create own lists and compare them for their best possible price.

There really is no reason to take the 2500K, prices are almost identical and the 3570k is up nto 15% faster, depending on the application. Also, the 2500K does not support PCI 3.0 - again, the difference is not huge, but if you can get if for a little more, get it. And for the 3570K, the chipset/board I suggested is considered the best. So better stick with that.

Regarding the cooler - I would still suggest the Noctua, because it has a push-pull Fan configuration and will because of that probably be more efficient than the Thermalright.
